More and more car manufacturers are going to premium tires that complement
the cars suspension and handling characteristics, the proper tire for these
cars are expensive. Most people don't realize that their car has speed rated
tires on it until they need them. Then, they try to save money by putting
an inferior tire back on it. After they drive it, most will complain that
it doesn't handle or ride as well as it used to.
Rotation - Every 10000 km or every other oil change if you have
it done every 5000 km.
Pressure - Check every other week and look for uneven wear. Look
in your owner's manual or door jam for the proper pressure.
Alignment - Have it checked every 25000 km or at least once a year.
Balance - Have it done when you have the alignment checked.
Each tire on your car supports a different amount of weight, causing the
tires to wear at different rates. By rotating the tires, you can extend the
life expectancy of them. There are several different patterns that can be
used when rotating tires. Maintaining proper tire pressure is one of the
easiest ways to help prevent premature tire wear. Improper inflation is the
greatest cause of tire damage. Tires lose pressure over time, causing undue
stress, irregular tire wear, and poor gas mileage. Without the proper air
pressure, the tires can't deliver their best performance or live up to their
mileage expectation. Get to know your tires. Look at them regularly when
you get used to the way they should look and that will make it easier to
spot problems.
If your car has an uncomfortable ride or the steering wheel vibrates, then
your tires may be out of balance or the tread may be separating. Not only
does the quality of the ride suffer, but the tires bounce against the pavement.
A car that is out of alignment may pull to one side or the other, wander,
or cause improper tire wear. A properly aligned car will roll and steer easily
and predictably. When your car is aligned, we will check the suspension components
to insure safety and that the alignment will hold. Hitting curbs and large
potholes can result in suspension damage and throwing the alignment out of
specs. If your car has a shimmy, it may indicate a bad tire or suspension
part.
Bring your car into Buehler Automotive & Transmission and let them
check your tire pressure, balance and alignment.
